A day late for women’s day but none the less, Lady’s and Gentlemen I give you the longest running Independent Senator in congressional history, representing the great state of Vermont Bernie “don’t fuck with me” Sanders.
In the 112th congress (our current congress) there are only 91 women present thats 16.8%, 74 in the house, and 17 in the senate. To put it in to perspective there is a total of 435 members of the the house (remember 74 of the are women thats 17%), and 100 members of the senate (again only 17% are women). Now lets look at the US population. There are an estimated 311,591,917 people in the United States in 2011, as of 2010 50.8% of the U.S. population was female (all this info can be found here US Quickfacts). So not even 20% of congress is representing half the population of the United States. hmmm…

The newest in a series of arrests Iran has made against US “spys”. Iran claims that he was sent to cause dissent before next Iranian election. Considering that the last election was widely disputed, and the effectiveness of the “Arab Spring” I am suspicious of this claim. It seems very convenient for Iran to blame any uprising on the US, instead of a genuine uprising of upset Iranians.
Not to say I don’t think we have CIA over there, considering the latest in the US-Iran negotiations I would be surprised if there weren’t.

Especially because Mussolini didn’t introduce universal health care at all. Lets think about what he did do. He drastically lowered taxes on banking on industry, abolished the tax on luxuries, halved the tax paid by company directors and abolished inheritance tax. He privatized life insurance. He privatized the telephone network. (both of these were previously state owned) He made religious education compulsory in schools. He abolished trade unions. He promised to restore national pride and enforce strict law and order. He banned literature on birth control and increased penalties for abortion.
So yeah, this is what Santorum’s dad was running from - tax breaks for the rich, more power to corporations, religious education, union bashing, nationalism, harsh policing and ‘family values’. Sound familiar?
